What it is used for

In electrotherapy, broad pad electrodes are good for treating a general muscle group, but many clinical situations call for pinpoint accuracy instead. This pen-style electrode has a stimulating ball tip of around 4mm in diameter, which lets a physiotherapist or clinician locate and stimulate the motor point of a specific muscle — the point on the skin where a nerve enters the muscle and where the muscle is most easily activated with the least current. Locating and working directly on that point can improve both the efficiency and the comfort of the stimulation session compared with using large pads alone.

How muscle stimulation with a pen electrode works
