Back & Lumbar Support
Back & Lumbar Support: Belts, Braces, Backrests & Coccyx Cushions in India
Lower back pain is one of the most common reasons people in India miss work, struggle to sit through a commute, or lie awake at night. For many it is not a single injury but the slow result of long hours at a desk, heavy lifting, weak core muscles, pregnancy, ageing discs, or simply poor posture repeated thousands of times a day. The good news is that a large part of that daily discomfort can be eased with the right back and lumbar support — drug-free, used at home or at work, and matched to your specific problem. This collection brings together orthopaedic lumbar belts, thoracolumbar braces, ergonomic backrest cushions and coccyx (tailbone) cushions from trusted Indian and imported brands, so you can support your spine the way a physiotherapist would recommend.
Who back and lumbar support helps
Back support products are designed to do three things: hold the lower spine in a healthier position, reduce the load on tired or injured muscles, and relieve pressure on sensitive areas such as the tailbone. They are widely used for:
- Lower back pain and lumbago from sitting, standing or lifting for long hours.
- Sciatica — radiating pain down the leg, where pressure relief and posture both matter.
- Coccyx (tailbone) pain and coccydynia, where a cut-out seat cushion takes weight off the tailbone.
- Post-surgery and post-injury recovery, where a brace limits movement and reminds you to move correctly.
- Posture correction for students, desk workers and anyone who slouches.
- Pregnancy and postpartum back strain, and general support for older adults.
Back support is an aid, not a cure. It works best alongside gentle movement, core-strengthening exercise and the advice of a doctor or physiotherapist — especially if pain is severe, follows an injury, or comes with numbness or weakness.
Lumbar support belts & braces
A lumbar belt wraps firmly around the lower back and abdomen to give compression and warmth, take load off the spine, and discourage the awkward bending that triggers pain. We stock genuine imported and Indian orthopaedic belts for different needs — from everyday support to firmer post-injury bracing. The Medansh Orthopaedic Lumbar Support Belt is a dependable everyday choice, while the imported Velpeau Dorsafit and Velpeau Vertelibre belts from France, and the Aspen OTS 642 and Aspen Horizon 627 from the USA, offer higher levels of clinical support.
For conditions that need rigid stabilisation of the mid-and-lower spine, a TLSO (thoracolumbar) brace is used — often after surgery or a vertebral injury, on a doctor's advice. We carry the Aspen Horizon 456 TLSO and the Aspen OTS 457 TLSO for these cases.
Backrest cushions for chairs, office & car
If your back hurts mainly while sitting, a contoured backrest cushion is often the simplest fix. It fills the natural curve of your lower spine so you sit upright without effort, instead of collapsing into a slouch. Our memory-foam options include the Lumbar Support Memory Foam Backrest, the larger Full Back Support Memory Foam Backrest, the Grin Health Orthopaedic Backrest, and the Ergonomic Back Rest. For long drives, the Lumbar Full Backrest with Car Headrest combo supports your back and neck together.
Coccyx (tailbone) seat cushions
A coccyx cushion has a U-shaped or wedge cut-out at the back that suspends the tailbone in the air, so your weight rests on the firmer sit-bones instead. This is the go-to support for tailbone pain, coccydynia, sciatica flare-ups, haemorrhoid discomfort, and post-childbirth or post-surgery sitting. Choose firmer hard-foam designs like the Hard Foam Coccyx Cushion and the White Willow Orthopaedic Coccyx Cushion, cushioned memory foam such as the Viaggi Memory Foam Coccyx Cushion, cooling Gel Coccyx Cushion, or the ring-shaped Donut Tailbone Pillow.
Posture correction
Slouching is a habit, and a posture corrector gently retrains the shoulders and upper back to sit tall — useful for students and growing teenagers. See the Posture Corrector for Kids & Teenagers.
How to choose the right back support
- Pain while sitting? Start with a backrest cushion (for the lower-back curve) or a coccyx cushion (for tailbone pain).
- Pain while standing, walking or lifting? A lumbar support belt gives compression and load relief where you need it.
- Recovering from surgery or a spinal injury? Use a TLSO brace, and follow your surgeon's or physiotherapist's instructions on wear time.
- Slouching / posture habit? A posture corrector plus an ergonomic backrest works best together.
- Sizing: belts are sized by waist measurement — measure around the navel and check each product's size chart before ordering.
Using your support safely
Wear a lumbar belt firmly but not so tight that it restricts breathing, and avoid wearing a rigid belt all day every day, as your own muscles still need to work. Use cushions on firm chairs rather than soft sofas for the best effect. Keep covers clean and air foam cushions regularly. If pain is getting worse, spreading, or not improving in a few weeks, see a doctor — support products manage symptoms, they do not treat the underlying cause on their own.

Frequently asked questions
Does a lumbar belt actually reduce back pain?
For many people, yes — it provides compression, warmth and load relief that ease everyday lower-back pain and make sitting or lifting more comfortable. It works best combined with movement and core exercises rather than worn constantly.
How long should I wear a back support belt each day?
Generally for the hours when you are most active or in pain — a few hours at a time. Avoid all-day rigid bracing unless a doctor advises it, so your own muscles stay strong.
What is the difference between a coccyx cushion and a normal cushion?
A coccyx cushion has a cut-out at the back that lifts pressure off the tailbone, which an ordinary cushion does not. It is specifically helpful for tailbone pain, coccydynia and post-surgery sitting.
Which is better, memory foam or gel?
Memory foam moulds to your shape for cushioned support; gel adds a cooler, springier feel. Both relieve pressure well — choose by comfort preference and how warm you tend to feel.
Can I use these during pregnancy or after delivery?
Backrest and coccyx cushions are commonly used for pregnancy-related back strain and postpartum tailbone soreness. For belts during pregnancy, check with your doctor first.
Do you deliver across India and provide a GST bill?
Yes — we deliver pan-India and provide GST invoices. Message us on WhatsApp for bulk or clinic orders.
